Glossop extras needed for feature film:

The production company making a major new feature film, “A Monster Calls,” based on the children's book, is filming some scenes at Glossopdale Community College in October 2014, and they are looking for school students aged 11-18 who live in Derbyshire, and would like to appear as extras in the film.  Although no payment is available for this group of extras it would be a rare opportunity to gain experience in a different aspect of the performing arts – and if your scenes make it to the final cut you could be in the film!

All filming will take place during the half term break, or on Sundays, and they are looking for children to take part for one, two or three days in October.

Parents of any children taking part will be asked to sign a form giving consent for their child to be involved in filming well in advance of the shoot.

If you are interested please email (or ask your parents to contact them if you’re under 16).

We are not working on a show at present but are delighted with the recognition received for our last production:

Professional Opera comes to Glossop!

Our voice coach for les Miserables School Edition, professional opera singer and teacher Claire Surman, launched "Glossopera" with three Christmas Opera Gala Concerts bringing professional opera to the town, with all profits from these concerts going to the charity Mummy's Star, which supports families facing cancer in pregnancy and beyond.

Future plans include an annual professional operatic production in Glossop featuring an amateur chorus drawn from the town - a fantistic opportunity for performers and audience!

 Glossop Operatic & Dramatic Society

Glossop Operatic & Dramatic Society has brought entertainment and pleasure to its audiences, and performance opportunities to its members over 35 years.

With a reputation (and awards!) for the quality of our productions the society remains very inclusive and firmly based in the people of Glossop, achieving a great audience experience along with highly enjoyable time for the cast and crew.  High Peak Borough Council has closed all public halls in the town so we are now based at Glossopdale Community College for our family-oriented Christmas show and pantomimes.  Our residence in the school has built links and opportunities for students to extend their experience in performing arts & theatrical production and to pursue their Arts Award through our productions.  Our major musical productions are prepared and rehearsed in Glossop and performed at New Mills Art Theatre, giving a "real theatre" experience for cast and audience alike.

The audience comes to see the spectacular of what's on stage but there are many activities that make it all happen:Rehearsal: Annie
